Let's Trail (1 of 2) ...

Posted in Colombian , Paso Fino by Romualdo

The Trail is an "air" Colombian Criollo Horse itself ... and there is no doubt that all Colombian riders can recognize the difference between Paso Fino and Trocha ... but outside of Colombia, where the Trail has become known recently, there is much confusion about what really is the origin ... Trocha Paso horse next to its current development ... ... your swing mechanics ... Moreover, we continually fans and even judges, using the term "trail" or "trail" to refer to a copy that is out of step ... This caught my attention, especially in Purism, where the Trail is not an "air" own the Pure Puerto Rican Paso Fino ...

So I decided to write this series of two articles where I intend to develop a small "catechesis" on what the Trail ... At first, looking at their origin and relationship with the Colombian Paso ... and the improvement it has achieved in the mode of Trocha Pura Colombiana ... And in the second article will present a description of the mechanics compared Trocha Paso Fino ...

Don Danilo To discuss the origin of the Trail we need to talk about the history of Colombian Criollo Horse, especially Paso Horse ... Mario Gomez Caballero in his "History of Colombian Paso Fino Horse" tells us that in Colombia there were two centers important rearing, each with a very definite type of horse and characteristics ...

One such center was developed in rearing the plain-Boyacense Cundinamarca (Cundinamarca and Boyacá) in a habitat moisture and plain ... These horses were born between wetlands and developed a typical walk "pinceleo" in the hands, similar to Peruvians call the "term" ... The other was developed in the mountains of Antioquia, among a lot of mud bucket and roads (ditches) that are deep in the "trails" of the mountain (the word means a narrow path trail that serves shortcut or an open road in the bush) ...

The horse "pinceleo" which was bred in the swamp, was very different from "swabbing", which was raised in the mountainous area of southwestern Antioquia ... For example, the movement of "brush in the hands" made them easy to take off of wetlands, which would have represented a great effort the horse of "swabbing" ... These horses "pinceleo" wide hull were "made the term" to surrender them deeper into the water and wetlands ...

The "swab", however, was soft to walk ... the front was observed that the hands and feet were of "piston" feature that evolved to not fall off when they got into the bucket ... This kind of "walking piston ", high elasticity and strength, was the type of walking that was preferred among Colombian breeders and can be recognized in the Paso Fino, Trocha in Castellana (or Step Castilian) and Pura Colombiana Trocha in modern ...

In the 30's, the Hacienda La Chucua of Cundinamarca, crossed mares of "pinceleo" known as the "Chula" two horses "swab" from Antioch: The Mico and the Antioquia ... This crossing of mares La Chucua, which were phenotypically similar to what is now the Peruvian horses, mares "term" or "pinceleo on their hands", dragged legs, but very smooth and impressive verve ... with the two horses " Step Castilian "brought from Antioch, beautifully produced and there comes the famous line of The Chucuanos ...

Everyone starts to admire the animals and begin to cross their mares and horses with these specimens, soft, very spirited and yielded much walking ... Then there arose a very spirited race, very docile but moves much walking ...

Raul Estrada Londono, in "The Colombian Paso Fino Horse, an authentic Creole race," says:

Horses ... "Step Castilian" intermediate product in the last known mating process, those in our western Colombia, especially in Antioquia, back in the 1950 "trail on the road and entered the town fine," were permanently acquired by the breeders of the Sabana de Bogota to "eliminate them voleado arms and shorter lead a horse" in their copies of the descendants of the fine pitch brought from Santa Marta by Don Gonzalo Jimenez de Quesada for the foundation Bogota in 1538, thanks to the "results and measures trochecito transmitting the Castilian, since in this land had not."

It is important to note that at this time there was no Trocha as a form or set aside, but this Trocha "original" was an integral part of many important families in the Colombian Creole horses ... especially in horse families "swabbing" has been Don Danilo gait that has developed in modern Colombian Paso Horse ... It is for this genetic trait to "justify" certain lines of Colombian Paso Horses "rest on the Trail" ... but beware, that anything is justified does not mean that are ideal or desirable ...

I refer to this as Trocha Trocha "original" to distinguish the Trail "modern", which is a very definite air itself and developed as a display mode ... To understand a little better the original purpose of the Trail and its acceptance within the Colombian Paso horse this time we can compare with the long pass or journey made by our Paso Fino horses in Puerto Rico ... The Trail was a secondary air was used to cover ground, but to collect the specimen, this return to the primary air was the Colombian Paso ...

La Trocha "modern" has its origin in an arrogant horse breeding horse revolutionized the whole of Colombia, but especially the air of the Trail ... In this respect, Raúl Estrada Londono, in "Chalanería Colombiana", he says:

His presence in our horse is relatively new if we analyze genetic in origin, although it also occurred in the Paso Fino horse in the Andean region as a secondary air off the animal, when it would impair the rate and rider it required him to measure and cadence determined. Then the horse to move with less speed its members, had to modify their movements, changing the lateral biped "step" by the diagonal biped the "trail".

Mr. Estrada goes on to explain how the horse stabilized Danilo Trocha air, kicking off the mode of Pura Colombiana Trocha ...

By the year 1960 appeared in the Colombian caballístico Danilo picture as a key issue not only for the obvious quality of their movements, but by the force with which aired in the following years a new and very marked characteristics of order phenotypic and genotypic.

Regarding the first, we see very definition a new line of rump, round and high-tail detachment, a minor motif with that, a shorter neck and triangular greater width of rump and chest, accompanied by a unexpected strength and elevation of the arms. In most of the specimens also showed a better spring in the hocks of the legs, allowing more flexibility in the hindquarters.

Genotypically, there was general decline in vigor and a constant transmission rate on new products diagonal, due to the genetic power of that stallion.

By investigating its origin, it is clear that the horse was the son of Danish, half blood, daughter of Lusitano horse, a Portuguese pure Spanish horse representative Lucky Modern in 1946 brought to Colombia by Conchita Cintron rejoneadora. On the paternal line, was the son of king mackerel, COMET, and grandson of COMET, Antioquia horse descended from the best lines selected from the southwest, held within the conservation care traditional Berber blood brought by the conquerors.

This was without doubt, an irruption of the modern Spanish horse's blood, that Cabrera tells us, in our horses Berber origin, which produced no major changes carefully studied to date. A process in which, between confusion and successes, were modified temporarily, but very evident in the movements of some of our horses, improving the rhythms diagonal, ie, jogging and "troche" after two or three crosses, in various ways but affecting way. This involvement can be as harmful when you change the rate on new products, or when the genetic strength of the diagonal is equal pace with the side of Berber origin, to make way for permanent copies, and slow, by the appearance of new forms of arms, which reduced speed and definition to the steps.

But not all results were negative: the reshaping of hock improved in the "fine" the quiet of their legs when they retained the softness of the arm and got more spring in the hock. On the other hand, with some features borne most outstanding children,-El Arco, Rebel, anarchist, Poison, Canary, etc. .- we'll see how it stabilized at a genetic happy event, the "trail" as diagonal movement of 4 times, produced steadily, especially the line of the arch.

This event consistently and more polished every day of the trail was a new saddle horse come for his brilliant double purpose, as it is soft, harmonious and perfect conditions for work, because it raises their arms and legs to the horse fine, with which is more comfortable in the undulating terrain and pastures. Does have one requirement is that the arms are not raised beyond the horizontal passing through the base of the elbow of the horse, so it does not affect the speed of the paddles or the harmony of the arms with the legs.

It is interesting to note how this new look has taken root in the Colombian riders and how much they have struggled to achieve purity in this new way ... John Jairo Galvis, in his article "La Trocha is something else", explains it this way :

What it can never happen is that a horse of diagonal pass to the side, it would be objectionable from every point of view, and if we pay attention to what is actually the Trail, see in it a very demanding form, where the cadence , rhythm, speed and sustainability, the exalt perhaps as the most evolved of all types, sheltered by CONFEPASO.

Here, the author refers to the rules of judging, where a horse can not get away Trail of air, much less "refined" ... this would be grounds for disqualification ... On a personal note I would add that the rules of judging in the Paso Fino is more "condescending" by not requiring the same purity in the implementation and maintenance of the Paso Fino ...

To summarize what we have seen, again I refer to the book "Chalanería Colombiana", where Mr. Estrada Londono makes some important distinctions:

  • before the 50's, the trail already existed in Colombian horses, but in lower numbers ... this was rooted in rhythm crossing diagonal (Trot & Gallop) with the Paso Fino Colombiano ...
  • Danilo use and their children was a definite Trocha abundant in the generations following his ...
  • This was followed by an indiscriminate crossing both rhythms - Paso Fino and Trocha - in the first process of forming the Trail ... which led to the formation of an air called "Step Castilian" in the Andean region, horses moved in Trail in the undulating terrain, and to step on the streets and flat terrain ...
  • this "double aptitude" was set almost like its own manner, with all its drawbacks ... but on genetic breeding complacency of some important equine families, who saw with satisfaction that both air meet in a single copy of "ringing step" ...
  • the current is moving away Trocha, phenotypic and genotypic, the Paso Fino ... where breeders seek a greater degree of perfection of the new form ...

We can then say that the Trail, as a secondary air has been closely related to the Colombian Paso Horse ... where some lines of running on a rein relaxed, but entered the Paso Fino to pick ...

We also have a modern Trail, produced by the infusion of blood in the horse Lusitana Don Danilo, Dictador that when crossed with mares "fine" Trocha stabilized and raised the same as a secondary air to a new form within the Colombian Criollo Horse ... We also note that because of the development of this new modality, Trocha Pura Colombiana copies and Trocha & Gallop have in their genetic ancestry Colombian Paso copies ... they are the result of crossing between Danilo and his children with Colombian Paso mares ...

Finally, the uncontrolled and excessive use of this crossing also introduced some of this "new blood" in some lines of Paso Horses ... which has resulted in individuals not only "rest" on the Trail, but have a certain predisposition to prefer Trail on the Paso Fino air ...

VÃctor not owed may answer category ³ richly your question, but consider the modality of the Trail as dominant on the Paso Fino and trotting ³ n Galopera, so (1) in the Paso Fino find problems of support in the past and horses which tend greatly to the Trail ... (2) while we note as the mode of Trot & Gallop has been losing its slow cadence for a more s rà ask ...

Thank you very much for your response Romualdo. Continuing the theme of heritability, then two fine pitch necessarily leaves a son / daughter owed may manifest fine pitch or other air or trail being the dominant and recessive fine pitch always goes fine but on the contrary goes fine with Trocha Trocha or fine if the Trocha has a recessive gene overshadowed by the dominance of the trail. Same for the Trotters, will always ³ n a jog or two trotters trotters could go one of two F1 another go. In other words, breeders can not predict air qua © n the crÃas run or else combinations can be made aware of the outputs to be produced.

I was wrong © in the previous comment. If the track is dominant, with a fine pitch Trocha Trocha must leave

In the genetic © tica is Difficult "predict" the results, only animals homozygous ³ ticos, where both genes are the same, may have a "warranty" on the heritage of the product ... in the gait of the horses is more s complicated that air from the Trail is (or seems) dominant on the Paso Fino, because these features (gait or air) is not n controlled by an SA ³ the gene, but several ... besides s, the phenotype of animals © n also influence the type of air possible one that could run the product ...

In a defined breed Paso Fino, crossing with Paso Fino Paso Fino shall have of necessity to Paso Fino ... just a race of Trocha, Trocha Trocha with shall have to give Trail .. more in the Caballo Criollo Colombiano there is no homogeneity in the air but, by definition n, the Trail (modern) descends from a cross between a horse arrogant to thin blood and blood Lusitana (a race of Trotting outside the CCC) that blends ³ with Fine and Galopera Trotting horse ... I mean Don Danilo, 1 / 4 Lusitano breed, crossed with mares that gave birth to Fine mode Trail now known as ...

For this race ³ n, all animals Trail in their veins (to a greater or lesser degree) blood Fine ... and by the same race ³ n, many fine carry blood from Trocha (the mother of Spring IV was a mare Trocha) ... if the product between two Fine or two Trocha or Fino and Trocha will tend toward the Fine or the Trail depends on the combination n not one, but several genes ... and is, so far I can imagine, impossible to predict with certainty ...

Moreover, to raise animals for exhibitionism ³ n Not only will is to determine the air, but the way that air is going to run ... for example, jogging ³ n with Trot ³ n we assume (as an example) to give us Trot ³ n ... but if the breeder is not only seeking to ensure a product Trot ³ n, but seeks a Quick Trot owed may choose to ask for trot across Trocha ³ n with ...

While more heterogeneous © neo s is the genotype of the population ³ n equine, more s Difficult to predict the characteristics that their offspring will inherit na ... and more s move away from the concept of "race" ...

In the book "El Caballo Criollo Colombiano" William Narva ez published in late 2007 says the following referring to the genetic parameters of the modes in the Colombian horse race:

The form of the "paso fino" in Colombian criollo horse race, like all the characteristics that are heritable and transmissible, is produced to be in their genetic background © tico a gene that, in this case, is presented as rececivo, responsible the horse to move by side, in what is called Paso Fino. To identify the gene that determines this feature will use the letter (p) of gait and genes come in pairs what their genotype is (pp). For the horse trotting Trocha and will use the letter ³ n (T) in capital letters because their displacement characteristics for diagonal dominant and its genotype is serious (TT) (homozygous). They can also Trocha horse and trotter be carriers of the gene (p) and, if so, their genotype is (Tp) (heterozygous).

It is convenient to make crosses between individuals of different modality. However, in order to better understand the peculiar way interact th an the genes that determine the different modalities, we assume the following examples: When crossing a Paso Fino horses with a lot of mares Trocha or trotters, Ã º ONLY be n paso fino children whose mothers have the genotype (Tp), ie, carriers of the recessive gene and, accordingly, should get a percentage of fine pitch and a Trocha or harness. In the event that the same horse to step serves a group of mares Trocha (or harness), whose genotype is (TT) â € "does not carry the gene recesivoâ €" the crÃas will n all Trocha or harness, due to the dominance of genotype (TT). When both parents are in step mode, the offspring will be always the same, fine pitch. The offspring from Trocha whose genotype is (Tp) is also © n Trocha of both homozygous heterozygous ³ ³ ticos as ticos, although some may continue to be carriers of the gene (p). (Do not forget that in genetic © tica, the exception proves the rule n.)

It is evident that the horse has fine pitch Creole also © No other combinations available genetic © policies and regulate the diagonal displacement that are inherent to all members of the family of solÃpedos. This allows them to move also © n by diagonal trail at the will of the horse or the rider when the topography of the land warrants, to save energy and rest to make long journeys, while at the Trocha and trot ³ n Galopera them is genetic © matically â € € œimposibleâ run the Paso Fino.

It is common n, and a result, the foal of fine step in the process of training to move trails, to reach what is called the â € œfalsa rein parejaâ €, which is when it usually takes your disposal natural scroll side the Paso Fino.
